What to Prepare Before a First Consultation

A first meeting with a corporate uniform supplier can set the pace for the entire outfitting process. Arriving with the right information avoids back-and-forth, shortens quotation times, and allows the production team to understand exactly what your company needs.

In our experience as textile manufacturers in Argentina, the most efficient consultations are those where the client already has some basic points clear. It's not about having a finished design, but about knowing the context of use, the volumes, and the demands of the staff who will wear the garments.

Staff Data and Sizes

The first thing we request is a list with the number of people per area and their approximate sizes. Individual measurements aren't necessary, but a realistic distribution is: how many wear size 40, how many size 44, etc. If the company already has a size record from previous outfitting, that data is gold.

It's also advisable to note if there are staff requiring special sizes (for example, longer sleeves or wider waists). The more accurate the survey, the fewer changes there will be later.

Job Functions and Working Conditions

A uniform for office staff is not the same as one for a logistics team or plant supervisors. Before the consultation, we recommend making a brief list of the tasks each group performs: do they spend many hours standing? Do they work outdoors? Do they need pockets with zippers? These details define the type of fabric, reinforcements, and cuts.

  • Administrative staff: premium cotton shirt, dress pants.
  • Plant supervisors: institutional vest, reinforced pants.
  • Reception team: executive shirt, light jacket.

Budget and Deadlines

Having a budget range per garment and an estimated delivery date helps make the quotation realistic from day one. An exact number isn't necessary, but knowing whether the project is for next month or the following semester is. This defines whether we can work with stock fabrics or if a special order needs to be placed at the loom.

If the company already has a uniform renewal date (for example, every 12 months), letting us know allows us to plan production without rushing.

Customization and Embroidery

If the uniform will feature the company logo, it's advisable to bring the vector file (AI, EPS, or CDR) and a clear indication of where it should be placed: left chest, right sleeve, back. It's also useful to know if the embroidery will be in color or a single tone, and if there are size restrictions.

At Cottonmenswear, we work with industrial embroidery of up to 12 colors, but having the design ready speeds up the sample.

A well-prepared consultation not only saves time: it also ensures that the final uniform meets the demands of daily work life. If you have questions about what information to gather, you can contact us before the meeting and we will guide you through the process.
